Every Great Swing Starts Here

👍 The setup drill that keeps you balanced and consistent.

Posture Drill for a Perfect Golf Setup

Getting into a consistent setup is one of the most underrated fundamentals in golf. Too often, players create problems before they even start their swing. Today’s posture drill will help you find the correct position every time, ensuring balance, comfort, and efficiency in your motion.

Let’s dive in 👇

🏌️ Why Posture Matters

Your setup dictates your swing. If you’re too bent over, reaching for the ball, or standing too upright, your swing path and contact will suffer. The best players in the world look athletic over the ball: balanced, grounded, and ready to move. This drill is designed to make sure you get there, too.

🔧 The Drill: Build Perfect Posture

  1. Start Tall – Stand straight up with the club across your waist.

  2. Bend from the Hips – Push your hips back, not your chest down. This keeps your spine neutral.

  3. Crack the Knees – Add a slight flex to your knees so you feel ready to move, not locked out.

  4. Let the Arms Hang – Relax your arms and let them fall naturally from your shoulders.

  5. Check Your Knees – Your kneecaps should be just over the balls of your feet, not drifting outward.

  6. The Fist Test – Put a fist or thumb between your body and your hands. Too close? You’re hunched. Too far? You’re reaching. Find the middle ground.

Where your left hand naturally falls is where the club should be. That’s your ideal setup.

💡 Why This Works

  • Creates balance through the feet.

  • Prevents swaying and reaching.

  • Puts the body in a biomechanically efficient position to rotate.

  • Builds consistency—your swing starts in the same place every time.

🎯 Key Takeaway

Good golf starts before you even take the club back. Use this posture drill to set up properly, and you’ll swing with more freedom, balance, and power.
